Quality Improvement

View Calendar

The purpose of the Quality Improvement work group is to exchange and apply information to improve genetic health care. It is a regional, voluntary, multi-disciplinary group of clinicians with a passion for quality healthcare practices in the treatment of genetic conditions. These clinicians have come together to share experience, expertise and challenges from their individual clinics for a collective improvement in the quality of the lives of those with genetic conditions.

One of the challenges for those involved in the care of individuals with genetic conditions is that many of the conditions are relatively rare. This makes the sharing of information and experiences all the more critical to quality improvement.

Why It Is Important

The Quality Improvement work group, and groups of the same nature, provides the foundation for improving the quality of health care on the national level. This work group is piloting specific projects to track treatment and outcomes, which ultimately can lead to concrete improvements in the methods in which particular conditions are treated. This has larger implications because these projects have been designed in such a manner that they can be replicated to create improvements in other health care clinics with other conditions.
