Community & Family Network Grant: Guidelines & Application
DOWNLOAD APPLICATION: Community & Family Network Grant - application & guidelines (2011-2012) The NEGC has funds to award three $2500 grants this year (July 2011 through May 2012), and will accept applications through April 2012. Applications are considered as they are received and are reviewed until available funds are disbursed. ELIGIBILITY: - Non-profit, consumer support and consumer-driven organizations with a focus on one or more genetic conditions
- Applicants must reside in ME, NH, VT, MA, RI or CT.
EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE REQUESTS: - Funding to plan, organize or enhance a conference or meeting (examples: organizing a local or regional conference, financial assistance for a speaker)
- Funding to assist an organization as it develops (examples: website development, leadership training, etc.)
- Funding to sponsor an activity that will provide a lasting benefit (example: attendance at leadership training or educational programs)
- Funding to attend a relevant educational event (example: a regional or national meeting or training program)
There may be exceptions in limited circumstances. We encourage you to ask. RESTRICTIONS AND CONDITIONS
• Printing costs may be restricted in some circumstances.
• We cannot fund direct clinical care or services.
• The following are not eligible requests:
1. Indirect costs
2. Alterations, renovations and capital development
3. Office equipment or furniture, laboratory furniture or therapeutic equipment
4. Books, periodicals or library services
5. Expenses already incurred
6. Ongoing operating expenses
7. Professional membership fees
8. Support of political activities or fundraising
9. International travel expenses
10. Activities requiring Internal Review Board (IRB)
For larger scope projects (needing between $2,500 and $30,000 in support), we encourage you to apply for funding under our Innovative Project Awards program. These competitive grants are awarded annually in June.

• You will be notified as soon as possible, hopefully within two to four weeks.
• If funded we will work with you about payment (reimbursement or payment up front if possible). You will need to complete some paperwork from the University of New Hampshire.
• If not funded we’ll let you know why. If funding for the year has all been disbursed, you may potentially reapply when more funds become available in the next grant year (our grant years are from June through May). IF YOUR REQUEST IS FUNDED, WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS
• We ask that you give credit to the NEGC and HRSA when an opportunity presents itself.
• We ask that you provide us with a brief summary report on the event or activity that we can post on our website and otherwise share with our constituents. (We love pictures.)
• Participate in the NEGC Annual Meeting.
